Quante cose che sono successe ultimamente! :-) Ci sono state le preselezioni del concorso Salani a cui anche io avevo partecipato, con una copertina per il titolo Pippi Calzelunghe. Che bello scoprire di essere rientrata nella preselezione, insieme ad altre 65 Pippi! Per ora non sono ancora chiari numeri di adesione nè nomi degli artisti, e i risultati finali si sapranno solo nei giorni a venire. A questo link è possibile vedere tutte le copertine preselezionate (un numero variabile per 10 diversi titoli di libri, per un totale di circa 250 proposte grafiche).
Io, per curiosità, mi sono messa nei panni della casa editrice ed ho creato una mia personalissima shortlist delle copertine che più mi hanno colpito...un compito di selezione molto difficile! Alla fine però sono rimaste le copertine che hanno una realizzazione particolare, quelle che secondo me funzionerebbero particolarmente bene a scaffale, o quelle che semplicemente mi invoglierebbero a leggere e comprare il libro!

So many things that happened lately! There has been a pre-selection of the book covers' proposals (Salani graphic competition, see earlier post!) and I was so happy to see that my proposal was shortlisted with 65 other Pippi Longostocks! The final selection will take place in the incoming days, so right now I have no idea how many participants submitted a graphic proposal... clicking here you'll be able to browse through pdfs of the the pre-selected works, divided by book (there were 10 different book titles you could work on). The pre-selected works are more or less 250... it's quite a bunch of drawings to select from! In the end, only 10 book covers will be displayed at the Bologna Children Book Fair taking place at the end of March. I decided to try and make my own shortlist of the illustration I preferred, basing my choice on the drawing technique, the subject and cut of the illustration, the imagined book's impact and effectiveness while displaied on the library's bookshelf.
Also, here's a work in progress of the work, while deciding whether to show or not the awesome Mr Nelson :-)
